About this site
Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology / (ICST) Zurich University of the Arts
This page informs about the work in Ambisonics at the ICST ZHdK. You will find information about the ICST Ambisonics Tools (MaxMSP), as well as about the ICST Ambisonics Plugins. As this is a blog and not a site, the content is dynamic and does not claim to be complete. An exception is the section "The Ambisonics Association." It contains a reconstruction of the former site "ambisonic.ch," which is no longer available since 22.08.2017. Michael Chapman initially created it in 2008 and included essential information like the Ambisonics channels' formulas. I have exported them from the web archive and embedded them here faithful to the original. They are available again here for anyone interested.
Ambisonics is now open source as most of the patents have expired. For exceptions, see here: https://de.qaz.wiki/wiki/Ambisonics#Patents_and_trademarks
The Ambisonics Channels Formulas were first published in 2008 by Michael Chapman on the now-deceased website "ambisonic.ch." I exported them from the web archive with the date 22-08-2017 and embedded them here correct to the original. The use and copying of the content are allowed, but modifications are not allowed. For those who are not familiar with the legal arguments of open source licenses etc., it should be emphasized that the purpose of ownership of intellectual property is inclusive and not exclusive. Each trademark(s) should be usable by all members on material that, for example, conforms to the relevant specification.
